Frequently Asked Questions:
What side of the road do you drive on in The Bahamas?
We drive on the left-hand side of the road. In most cases there will be a 'Keep Left' sticker in the top, middle of your rental car's windshield as a reminder to you. In Eleuthera we have a lot of winding roads and blind corners; for your safety we ask that you moderate speed and please keep left!
What type of insurance does your company offer?
Our vehicles are covered by Third Party Insurance which is the standard requirement for self-drive vehicles here in The Bahamas.
What does Third Party Insurance cover?
If the renter of the vehicle gets into an accident involving another vehicle and is found to be at fault, the insurance company will cover the cost of repairs and/or injuries of the other vehicle but will not cover damages to the rented vehicle. This means that any/all damages to your rental vehicle are the responsibility of the renter.
Can we purchase additional insurance for our rented vehicle?
Typically, you cannot purchase additional insurance through the rental company as local insurance companies do not offer this service. However, we encourage our renters to check with your credit card issuer for additional insurance coverage offered by your bank/credit card issuer when you use your credit card to book and pay for your rental.
Why Can't I rent a vehicle if I am under 25 years of age?
Unfortunately, local insurance companies prohibit the rental of self-drive vehicles to persons under the age of 25. It is considered high risk and rental companies would be in breach of agreements. Breaching such agreements could result in insurance policies not being honored if an accident does occur. That means that the underaged renter would be liable for ALL damages inclusive of third-party vehicle, rented vehicle and any medical related claims as a result of the accident. Rental companies are also at risk of losing relationships with insurance companies and/or liability by law where applicable.
